Dauer, Dauer & Pettit    Australian History (1901 to 2001) As Seen Through Banknotes    Self-Published    Florida (USA)    2007    352 pages    21*28cm    Hardcover    ISBN:972846611    Very Good

One of the finest books published on Australian numismatics.

No matter which way this book is evaluated, it rates extremely highly - print quality, graphic design, the quality of the photography and the information it contains are all first rate.

When it comes to publishing a non-fiction work, less information is often more. It can be easier to include every small amount of information on a subject than to refine the discussion back to just the most important, interesting or relevant subject matter.

Australian History Through Banknotes covers each section of Australia's banknote history clearly and concisely, it is easy to see from the way it's been written that the authors not only have a passion for the series, but also have a very detailed understanding of the history behind the notes depicted.

Despite the book's accessible graphic design, the book's size and the number of photos throughout it, I don't know that I'd regard it as a coffee-table book however - it's just too attractive to leave it lying around.

As a record of what is surely one of Australia's finest banknote collections, this book certainly would be a perfect addition to any Australian numismatic library.
