Gold SOVEREIGN 1855 Sydney about EF Great detail in the hairline evident. Wear properties of the remaining population of 1855 Sydney Mint sovereigns shows that most were in circulation for an extended period of time - very few of these iconic coins have much detail in the hairline remaining, and most worn examples have a dull appearance. ,As you can see from the images, the surfaces of this example retain the original spectrum of colours that is unique to high grade sovereigns from this Mint in this period.,Very VERY few 1855 sovereigns are available in better than EF condition - this example would easily rate among them if it weren't for the decent rim knock at around 2 o'clock on the reverse.,Were it not for the rim nick on the reverse, we would have graded this coin a strict EF, and would have priced it at $17,500 - $10,000 more than the asking price of this coin!,,It offers excellent value for a buyer interested in getting the most appealing coins possible for their budget. |
