These tokens are among the last to be issued in Australia, furthermore the building that is featured on the reverse is / was located just around the corner of our office here in Fremantle!,There are numerous die varieties of the tokens issued by Henderson - this particular example has the date below the building and has the denomination finishing on the roof of the building. The exact reasons why Henderson chose to issue penny tokens is not yet clear, however may well be resolved with a little more research. |
