The Royal Australian Mint began striking silver one ounce coins with a kangaroo reverse in 1993 (this is the fourth in the series), they're all now hugely popular with silver bullion coin collectors right around the world.

,Whereas the value of other series of coins are determined solely by their collector appeal, the market for the silver kangaroos is underpinned by the bullion price of silver.

,The reverse of this particular coin shows a mother kangaroo and her joey, ,,Mintage figures of the Australian silver kangaroos are absolutely tiny when compared to the same coins from the United States - this coin has a mintage of 49,398, while the mintage figure of the one ounce proof US Eagle is set by law at a minimum of 750,000!
