AUSTRALIA 1983 PROOF SET

A complete set of Australian proof coins dated 1983, in FDC condition.

Australia has been producing proof year sets ever since decimal currency was introduced in 1966. Coin collecting was in a boom period in the early 1980's, particularly on the back of the Commonwealth Games commemorative 50 cent coin.

Proof coins are the same as those we see in our change, but are struck with specially prepared machinery on specially prepared blanks - the designs always stand out magnificently.

The coins in this set are in perfect condition, as is the packaging. This set comes in slightly different packaging to that usually issued - no foams and a blue outer cardboard sleeve. The certificate is included. It's not known how many such sets were prepared for the export market, but this is the first one I've handled in 15 years and they ain't featured in either of the price guides!
