AUSTRALIA 1984 PROOF SET The last Australian proof set not to include a one dollar coin and the last with the Machin portrait of Elizabeth II. Australia has been producing proof year sets ever since decimal currency was introduced in 1966. Coin collecting was in a boom period in the early 1980's, proof sets were particularly popular. Proof coins are the same as those we see in our change, but are struck with specially prepared machinery on specially prepared blanks - the designs always stand out magnificently. The Australian one dollar coin was introduced to the general public part way through 1984, while the proof set was introduced earlier in the year. ,The coins in this set are in perfect condition, as is the packaging. Please note - it does not come with the original protective foam outers, but does come with the original certificate. |
