AUSTRALIA 1987 PROOF SET

The first Australian proof year set to include a commemorative one dollar coin.

Australia has been producing proof year sets ever since decimal currency was introduced in 1966. Coin collecting was in a boom period in the early 1980's, proof sets were particularly popular.

Proof coins are the same as those we see in our change, but are struck with specially prepared machinery on specially prepared blanks - the designs always stand out magnificently.

You'll never find a $1, 50, 20, 10, 2 or 1 piece dated 1987 in your change, because they were only ever put out in the mint and proof sets. This means the proof sets will be much tougher to get in years to come - a lot of them will be broken by collectors just wanting the coins inside them!,The coins in this set are in perfect condition, as is the packaging. It comes with the original protective cardboard outer and certificate.
