Australia has been producing proof year sets ever since decimal currency was introduced in 1966. Proof coins are the same as those we see in our change, but are struck with specially prepared machinery on specially prepared blanks - the designs always stand out magnificently.

With their designs featuring Australia's unique native animals, Australia's coins have always been hugely popular right around the world.

The 1989 proof set capitalized on this popularity, its cardboard sleeves were designed along an outback theme, and include a lot of information about the native animals featured on the coins included. This set was heavily marketed overseas, meaning they are a little more difficult toget than the mintage might indicate. ,The coins in this set are in perfect condition, as is the packaging.
