A fantastic commemorative 5 coin set with a mintage of just 2,500.

The Australian Peacekeepers set was produced by The Perth Mint in recognition of the personal efforts and sacrifices made by Australians who have served as United Nations peacekeepers in world trouble spots since 1947.

During this time, members of the Australian Defence Force, the Australian Federal Police and civilian specialists and volunteers have successfully undertaken many roles designed to keep peace.

Four of the five reverse designs symbolise international peacekeeping operations performed by the three branches of Australia's Defence Forces and the Police.

The fifth design highlights the Australian Government's humanitarian work, which is managed by the Australian Agency for International Development.

The coins depict members of the Australian Army, Royal Australian Navy, Royal Australian Airforce, Federal Police or Australian humanitarian aid teams undertaking a variety of peacekeeping activities under the auspices of the United Nations.

Each $2 dollar coin is legal tender under the Australian Currency act 1965 and has been struck from 2 ozt of pure silver in proof quality.

The set is housed in a custom wood presentation case, and is accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity - just 2,500 sets were released.
