Australian $2 notes were issued from 1966 right up until they were replaced by Australian 2 dollar coins in 1988.

Some Australian 2 dollar notes can be particularly valuable with certain serial numbers or if they are in mint condition. Values can reach up to $5,000 for the rarest old Australian two dollar bill. Many non-collectors think it is crazy that 2 Australian dollars might be worth that much money!

The 3 decades over which 2 dollar notes were produced provides collectors with a large variety of notes to collect, as well as a number of different ways of accumulating them. Some collectors like to collect star replacement notes; some like to collect original bundles of notes; some like to collect first or last prefix notes; some like to focus on printing errors and some collectors aim to get all of them.

The introduction of the two dollar coin in 1988 was a poignant event for many Australians. Although lots of people kept some aside "for the kids", most of the two dollar bills still in existence were printed in the mid-1980s and are not in mint condition. Early 2 dollar notes in mint condition are much, much rarer and are well worth collecting.

We buy and sell everything from attractive and affordable notes right through to the finest specimens in perfect condition.
