FIVE POUND 1918 Cerutty/Collins about EF

A premium example of this high value note dating to WWI.

The "Treasury" series note series (those notes printed in this style between 1913 and 1921) includes several rare varieties that are incredibly hard to get in any condition.

The Cerutty Collins notes issued from 1918 are the most readily available of them, and are always keenly sought in premium grade by type collectors.

It's always remarkable to see high-value notes from the early part of the 20th century in better than average condition, and this note is no exception.

As the images here show, the note retains attractive colour, has straight edges and sharp corners.

What you can't fully appreciate from the images is just how original the note is.

There are no more than three vertical folds, as well as two slight corner folds. The body remains crisp and retains plenty of snap - it certainly hasn't been mucked around with.

The quality of this note is in fact comparable to the example in the famed "Blue" collection, and is superior to the note in the Nicholson collection.

It is one of just a handful to appear in this grade in the past 30 years.
