Description:

AUSTRALIA 1988 MINT SET Bicentennial of Australian settlement commemorative

The hugely popular mint set released to commemorate 200 years since settlement!

Australian memorabilia was in a boom period right throughout the Bicentennial year, coins sets were particularly popular as they were officially produced by the Australian government.

The 1988 mint sets were important for a number of reasons - they included the commemorative $1 coin (Aborginal kangaroo); they included the commemorative 50 cent coin (tall ships) and they included a $2 coin for the first time. As if that wasn't enough, you'll never find a 20¢ piece dated 1988 in your change, because they were only ever put out in the mint sets. This means the mint sets will be much tougher to get in years to come - a lot of them will be broken by collectors just wanting the 20¢ coins inside them!

The coins in this set are in perfect condition, as is the packaging.
