Description:

AUSTRALIA 1988 TWO DOLLAR PROOF

Obverse: R Maklouf portrait of Elizabeth II

Reverse: Aboriginal elder

Purity: 9999% Weight: 835g Nett: 0.27ozt

The very first proof $2 coin released in Australia.

The general public was taken completely by surprise when the RAM issued a $2 coin in 1988 to commemorate the opening of the new Commonwealth Parliament House in Canberra.

Nowhere near as many people have these same coins in proof condition though, and you only need to see how stunning the designs stand out on the photos above to see why they're popular and command a significant premium above the normal coins struck for circulation.

This coin is in mint condition, as is the presentation case and outer cardboard box.

The coin is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
