Description:

Australia Silver One Ounce Specimen Coin 1991 Kookaburra

The second coin in this hugely popular series.

This remarkable silver coin is the very first silver Kookaburra issued by the Perth Mint, and laid the foundation for their hugely popular Kookaburra series. Although it had a mintage of just 300,000 coins, it was so popular with collectors around the world that it was over-subscribed by a factor of 5 when it was first released.

The Perth Mint's kookaburra was also voted the "most popular coin" in the world in 1991 - that's a big accolade!

This coin remains housed in the original presentation case - the coin is not in a capsule, which is why it has a light tone either side.
