AUSTRALIA 1994 MINT SET International Year of the Family commemorative

Includes the first coin designed by an Australian child!

Australia has been producing mint year sets ever since decimal currency was introduced in 1966. The coins in mint sets are just the same as those we see in circulation, but are in perfect condition!

The design on the reverse of the 50¢ coin honouring the International Year of the Family was the winner of a nation-wide competition among Australian primary school children, and wasn't particularly well received by the general public when it first came out. As the years have passed though, decimal variety collectors have found two different varieties - one with a wide date, and one with a narrow date. The Australian 50 cent commemorative coin from 1994 has two different varieties - the narrow date (6mm) and the wide date (7mm). The coins in this set are in perfect condition, as is the packaging.
