Description:

2006 Fifty Cent Four Coin Set Sports of the Commonwealth Games

A scarce set of four Uncirculated coins.

The RAM issued a series of 16 50¢ coins in 2006 to mark the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Each showed one of the sports being contested at the games, and was keenly sought by both collectors and sports enthusiasts.

Although the Commonwealth Games remains a popular and important event, it doesn't have quite the same gravitas as the Olympic Games, and so the coins issued for it are so much rarer.

These coins each had an approximate mintage of between 20,000 and 30,000 coins, which is tiny compared to the other commemoratives that are made, let alone the ones that are issued for circulation.
