THE COINAGE OF COLONIAL AUSTRALIA BOOK. Written by Andrew Crellin, this book is a definitive reference work on the coinage used in Australia between 1788 and 1825.

Limited edition, hard bound and with full colour illustrations. Signed and numbered by the author.

 "Australia's Colonial Coinage" was published in conjunction with the Powerhouse Museum in 2005, and provides an in-depth exploration of the history of the very first coins used in Australia - the eleven coins mentioned in Governor King's proclamation of November 17th, 1800.

Proclamation coins have always been of interest to many Australian coin collectors, however prior to this book, it was seen as being a very difficult field for collectors to come to terms with. This book not only provides a list of the coins that were officially "proclaimed" for use in NSW, but it also explores the background behind each of the coins in the list.

In this book, you'll learn:

- Why Australia didn't have it's own mint in 1788;
- Why Governor King chose the eleven coins in his proclamation;
- The history of and background to each of the coins in Governor King's list;
- How, when and by whom these coins were used.

If you have an interest in the coinage of colonial Australia, you simply must have this book! It answers every question the collector could possibly want to ask about the series, and includes a complete bibliography for further reading. It has been warmly received by the Australian numismatic community, as well as by other prominent figures involved with Australian history:

"I commend Andrew for an admirable job and congratulate Monetarium, Powerhouse staff and all involved for their efforts in publishing this exceptional work."

Dr Kevin Fewster, AM (Director, Powerhouse Museum)
