Bill Gross Raises US$9 million for Medcins Sans Frontiers by Selling Part of His Stamp Collection

Now I know that stamps aren't exactly coins, however they are still portable and tangible collectibles, and news in their market is always relevant to us in numismatics. If you cast your mind back a few months, you'll recall I mentioned that the MD of one of the largest bond trading companies in the world was an avid stamp collector - he sold part of it through an auction in New York this week for a mere US$9 million.

His comments on the results of the auction make for interesting reading, as do those of financial commentators. Don't be concerned though, the balance of his collection is estimated to be worth US$80 million at present, so he's not out of the market altogether.
