Before decimal currency came about in 1966, Australia operated on the Imperial monetary system of pounds, shillings and pence.

The Commonwealth or pre-decimal coins that were used here between 1910 and 1966 are still popular with collectors more than half a century after they were withdrawn. The most dedicated collectors will pay thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars for certain coins in mint condition.

Trying to work out if you have one of those valuable coins can be frustrating if you aren't a knowledgable collector, but it doesn't need to be a job that has no end.

You're going to save yourself a whole lot of time and hassle if you get yourself organised first - watch our video to see how our thorough, step-by-step process allows you to appraise a single coin or an entire collection quickly and confidently.
