The first coin in this hugely popular series.
The Royal Australian Mint began striking silver one ounce coins with a kangaroo reverse in 1993 (this is the first in the series), they are all now hugely popular with silver bullion coin collectors right around the world.
It was actually something of a groundbreaking product for the RAM - here is the first coin ever made by the RAM that has even a vague relationship with the silver bullion price.
Whereas the value of other series of coins are determined solely by their collector appeal, the market for the silver kangaroos is underpinned by the bullion price of silver.
Mintage figures of the Australian silver kangaroos are absolutely tiny when compared to the same coins from the United States - this coin has a mintage of 78,031.
The coin and card remain in as-issued condition.
