This coin was struck to commemorate 100 years of the Perth Mint.
The Perth Mint opened for operations on June 20th, 1899, and has been in continuous operation since then.
The Perth Mint is known around the world for the quality and purity of its sovereigns, so it is hardly surprising that a sovereign was chosen as the base for the coin that marked a full century of operations.
This superb coin features a 22ct gold core that has the exact same specifications as the Imperial sovereigns struck at the Perth Mint between 1899 and 1931, and is housed within a pure silver surround.
Each contains just shy of a quarter ounce of solid gold.
Just 7,500 proof examples such as this one were produced - we'll leave you to be the judge of whether the strike quality is up to the standard of the originals!
This coin remains in the original presentation case and is accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity.
The coin, case, and certificate all remain in excellent condition.
