Complete Date Set of Australian Pennies (1911 - 1964)
75 coins, including the 1925 and 1946 (The 1930 penny included is English)
An attractive and affordable set.
Despite the fact it has been over 50 years since the change to decimal currency here in Australia, the popularity of the complete sets of Australian pre-decimal coins in average condition in the good old press-in albums remains strong.
There's something about owning a complete set of coins that spans a number of decades - you appreciate just how hard it would have been to put together when you see them all in one place.
The press-in albums are great because they allow you to pop the coins out and look them over fairly easily. Cardboard is arguably a more natural material than plastic, which looks much better for coins from this period.
The images show the type of set you'll receive - as you can see, the coins are in average circulated condition - they’re all used, but look great in the album, and are problem free.
Most of the KGV coins will grade Very Good - Fine, the KGVI coins are probably around Very Fine, while the QEII coins grade from good VF to good EF. The 1930 penny in the album is English.
Please note regarding the album: the main producer of these cardboard press-in albums in the world was a US company named DANSCO.
Several years ago, DANSCO ran into some problems and stopped producing a decent portion of their normal product lines. The demand for Australian coin albums is much lower than that for US coin albums, so they were among the first to get cut.
I had heard that they went out of business entirely, however there seems to still be decent numbers of US coin albums being advertised, regardless of whether they're still in business or not, the consequence is that the only press-in coin albums that are available these days are second-hand.
The penny sets that we get in will vary according to their colour and condition, however we won't advertise one that's really rough.
If you're OK with a decent album that has honest coins in it, this one is for you - if you'd rather get a new (ish) album, this won't be for you.
