Fantastic paper quality, arguably the toughest of the QEII last prefixes.
Note Printing Australia's records show that 168,399,000 five pound notes were printed and issued between October 1960 and February 1966.
Their records also show that just 519,000 five pound notes were printed with the TD/09 last prefix.
A precise mintage figure for the Coombs / Wilson 5 pound star replacement note isn't known, but research by Mick Vort-Ronald has shown that four prefixes were used in printing those notes (TC/10 ~ TC/13). This means the TD/09 last prefix note could be quantifiably rarer than the star note printed in the same period, yet is available for a fraction of the price.
This particular note clearly has crisp and original paper, sharp edges and corners. The colours remain bright and original.
A standard five pound note in this quality brings around $950 at the moment, yet has a mintage that is 527 times larger! (The more I write this, the better value I believe it is!)
