Bulk Lot of 300 World/Foreign Coins (2.5kg)

A great variety of loose change from right around the world.

Collecting world coins is an excellent area to get involved with - you can accumulate a huge variety of interesting coins for a relative pittance and they're great for getting kids interested in the hobby.

Sit down with an album, an atlas and a Krause catalogue and you've got yourself, or a kid (or kids!) entertained for literally hours.

Show a child a big bag of world coins and no matter how much they play Nintendo or PlayStation they're bound to show some interest, especially if you take some time to go through it with them.

There are a heap of free atlas' available online, and most local coin dealers sell albums and Krause catalogues (we certainly do).

The number of coins in each bag depends obviously on their average weight and size, but rest assured there will be at least 300.

As these coins are brought into our shop by non-collecting members of the general public doing some spring cleaning, most of them date from the mid to late 20th century, although there is usually a decent amount of interesting earlier stuff as well. Here's a guide to what you won't find:

  • Bent, badly corroded or damaged coins;
  • British Commonwealth pre-decimal copper coins (Australian, NZ, British, South Africa);
  • Australian decimal coins.

So, the exact contents of the bag will be pot luck, however there's sure to be some interesting pieces, that will give you something to look up and research.

The team at Sterling & Currency is a family affair – small but growing.  Andrew Crellin is the main dealer in the business, click here to read this credentials and how he started with the Perth Mint; spent a decade in Sydney working with two leading dealers and relocated back to Perth in 2006.
 
Jo is our budding Numismatist, Chief Event officer, Photographer and Packing Extraordinaire.  Natalie is our media creator and photographer.  Nicole manages the accounts and is part of the Packing Team.  A myriad of important duties are carried out by the team that include photography, website updates, office admin, and chocolate eating.
 
Ruby the Ridgeback quite frankly has learned nothing about coins, however contributes by barking at anyone wearing hi-viz.
