Franklin Mint Coins of All Nations Complete Set (2 Volumes, 150 Coins)
Franklin Mint Coins of All Nations Complete Set (2 Volumes, 150 Coins)
This is one of the very few Franklin Mint products to contain items of value.
This set contains a series of PNC's from 150 different countries from right around the world.
A PNC is a postal numismatic cover or a philatelic numismatic cover - an envelope with a stamp and a coin included.
These PNC's were unofficially put together by the Franklin Mint and were sold by subscription in the 1980’s.
Anyone who has a passing interest in numismatics knows that 99% of the products put out by the Franklin Mint are complete and utter junk. Almost despite themselves, the Franklin Mint occasionally released a product that has proven to have some enduring value.
This two-volume set of world coins is definitely on that list - it includes many coins that are now quite scarce and are in demand with collectors.
Do a brief search on eBay or Google for "Coins of All Nations" and you will see that many of the sets in these albums bring anywhere between $20 and $125 each.
Although this set isn't exactly rare, it does contain an incredible variety of coins from around the world - perfect for the collector looking to get an "All Nations" set underway or to share with the kids or grandkids.
It turns out that the exact number and type of coins that were included in these two volumes differs from country to country - the coins that were released in the USA were different to those released in Australia. The Coins of All Nations released in Australia contained 150 different covers including foreign coins.
Special Note: The China PNC contains a 1980-dated 5 Fen coin. Just 80,000 of these coins were struck, a tiny mintage for a nation as large as China.
