PCGS advises the light print across the front of the note is due to fading rather than as the result of a printing error.
When I first saw this note, I was intrigued by the loss of detail in the serial numbers - they are far lighter than the design in the rest of the front of the note.
That is a separate print phase to the colour (simultan) and the other raised black lines (intaglio), so they could have been applied at a different level to the rest of the note.
As you can see though, there is some loss of detail in the simultan print on the right hand side, in and around the medallion featuring King George V.
PCGS have advised their opinion is that the serials have faded, which I can't se is possible. Surely the entire front of the note would be faded if that were the case!

The Riddle Heathershaw signature combination is the most affordable in the "Harrison" series of pre-decimal notes. It is invariably the "got-to" signature combination for collectors keen on building a type set of Australian pre-decimal notes in superior grade.
Not only is this a decent example of the type, it makes for an interesting discussion.
