A lovely example of one of Australia's most popular rare coins - great reverse detail.
The 1930 penny is undoubtedly Australia's most keenly sought rare coin - most everyone in the general public has heard of it (even if only vaguely), it's been THE coin that all pre-decimal coin collectors have lusted over for decades.
Not only is the 1930 penny exceedingly rare, it carries with it a rarity and functional beauty that is unmatched by any other Australian rare coin.
Finding an affordable 1930 penny at the right price and without any strings attached is much harder than a lot of collector's realize.
As you can see from the images, this particular example has really strong reverse detail - there is none of the weakness in the top scroll nor in the second "N" of "PENNY" that so many coins exhibit.
It is also evenly worn across the King's crown in the obverse - a full band in the base of the King's crown remains quite evident, and part of the centre diamond (also within the base of the King's crown) is easily visible.
The surfaces retain an even and dusty brown tone, all of this confirms that this truly is a solid example of Australia's most keenly sought rare coin.
The 1930 penny is a solid tangible asset that has long had a widespread appeal among collectors and the general public. It has been a trusted store of value for many decades now - few other Australian assets resonate as strongly with the general public as being an obvious liquid and desirable asset as this important and historic Australian coin.
